In this thread you can list movies that relate to or highlight:

- common emotional injuries in a family unit
- how familial injuries and sin are passed down multi-generationally
- how families resist loving change of one or more of their members
- how families support each other in error
- how families may support each other to find truth and be loving
- justification of sin in families
- how families 'cover' for each other and hide sin and untruth
- how families bully others
- how people value family over principles of love and truth
- how people value family over other people, favoritism, excusing violence in protection of other family members etc

These are some suggestions of the types of movies to list in this thread but please list any movie that brought up emotions for you relating the the issue of family dynamics and emotions within families.

Title: A Place to Call Home (2013-2015)

"Very good in so many ways, it it set in 1950's rural NSW, and revolves around a very rich family and the lengths the matriarch of the family goes to to uphold the family's social standing. Addresses themes of class discrimination, racism, homosexuality (and how utterly TERRIBLY homosexual people were treated including confronting scenes involving medical treatment etc). Such a pertinent portrayal of the denial of truth, the lengths people will go to (especially within a family dynamic) to 'protect' the truth and the damage this does."

"Set in Second World War and based on the diaries of Nella Last submitted as part of a project called 'Mass Observation' I was moved by Nella's journey, marriage difficulties and problems with other women. There is a good depiction of making a child a surrogate companion."

Title: Ajami (2009)

"Set in an Arab ghetto where the mix of cultures & the decades-long violence there is seen from the P.O.V of the families involved; How warring families attempt to keep their children 'in line'. For me, the raw feeling of this film put me in touch with the similarities between us, when we live in fear, tension & anxiety. This is what leads to violence. On the inside, one could say, it already is violence."
